Yeah, it was working on some pages and not on others. The ones it didn't work on had this:

tfp-menu-problem01.gif

With some help from a geek on one of the web design forums I belong to, I discovered the problem was some missing code. I added the code and the menus should work on all pages now.

There is an additional feature added to the side panel that notifies you of personal messages, visitor messages and some other things. It's called "Notifications" and you will see it just below the New Posts link, which is below your avatar.

There are prob'ly so other little buglets running around I don't know about yet, but the major issues are fixed now. Now I can continue to bring this new design to life in other areas of the site. Let me know when you have problems and I'll try to get them taken care of as quickly as possible.

Thanks for everyone's patience and good humor.

Jim

I'm not getting email notifications. I checked my profile or preferences and the box is checked.

Try refreshing the page you are on (press F5 on your keyboard while in the forum) and then look at the number.

I haven't gotten any failed email messages in my email. That happens when the system sends an email to a user who has a broken email address. Did you get a notification of this message posted in this thread?

No notification on this one.

But I think I might have accidently junked one of the notifications a week or so ago.

I changed the setting to safe content again. We'll see......I think it was me.

I KNEW it. It was all your fault from the beginning. You just wanted to see me squirm.

Re: Problems with the new design

Not sure if this is the right topic for this.
I am seeing more topic pages that are wider than most. For instance: Hanging up my guns and Making new contacts are just a little wider than most.
It's not a problem, just an observation.

Re: Problems with the new design

Are you saying the width of the topic changes from other topics? Can you do a screen shot of one of the wider ones and one of the normal ones and upload it to this topic?

Screen shot:

Hold down the ALT key and press the PRTSC key at the same time.

Go to Paint (it's in the Accessories section of your Start > All Programs menu), open it, right-click the blank area and select Paste.

Save the image as a JPEG (*JPG,*.JPEG,*.JPE,*.JFIF) file type and call it something like screenshot-normal.jpg and screenshot-wide.jpg - let it get saved in the My Pictures folder so it's easy to find.

Upload both images here so I can see what you see.

Thanks,

Jim

Ya, I had to scroll just a wee little bit, somewhere back up there in the other forums.

Re: Problems with the new design

What "other" forums. Please remember that I can't see what you see. I am desperately trying to make this a very usable site and still have a beautiful design. It works very well in all my browsers at sizes from 1,000 pixels wide and up. The great majority of users here have resolutions from 1024 and up, which means there should be no horizontal scroll bars at any time. If you do, please show me what you see. Do a screen shot as I described above so I can see what you got. I can't fix what I can't see. And I really want to fix it.

The carpet and sales forum is wider or at least the thread I just looked at.(carpet & vinyl) by demonseed.

Re: Problems with the new design

Okay, I see that now. I'll figure out what is causing it and fix it as soon as I can. Please tell me if any other threads are doing that so I can see what the common denominator might be.

Thanks, Floorguy, that helps.

Re: Problems with the new design

ahHA! It was all Daniel Wachtel's fault. The common denominator was that he posted on every page that broke (was too wide for the screen resolution of 1024). The problem was in the length of his "Location:" field. He had 64 characters, incl. spaces, in a 50 character field. It doesn't matter that I didn't have the limits defined to prevent it, it's still all his fault. 'Sides, I am tired of taking the blame for everything that breaks around here lately. So, Dan gets the blame this time. Thank you, Floorguy, for helping me catch this dastardly culprit.

I feel so much better now.

I have a problem like that on all pages................. I bet T is gonna blame it on my state of the art '97 SONY monitor size. Not a biggie, but I have to scroll slightly to the right in all pages to read the forum text. The Navigation bar to the left is always viewable.
Not a biggie, unless T wants to modify the dimensions just for Lo.
I'm cool with it T......... just givin ya a hard time.
