I find the fact the posts are being deleted confusing and disturbing at the same time.
I can understand the posts with political Republican/democrat being closed due to this topic being one that will never have a outcome that will please all people.
The posts about schools, I read the post before it was deleted and read nothing that would make me feel that the post should have been deleted or closed. Especially on a site that advocates the industry coming together, and puts so much emphasis on training and education. I read a rebuttal from a person that had put many hours of time and(it sounds like) aggravation navigating the system to bring a quality educational work shop to the industry, with the hope that it evolve into more. For the industry to come together, all viewpoints must be considered and discussed and weighed by the entire group, not to be dismissed for reasons that cannot be explained or defended. This leads me to the conclusion that based on reading prior posts and seeing which prior posts have been deleted and the reasons given that this is a political or personal issue and extremely biased in its use of administrative powers.
So I would like to know is it a personal issue? Then please enlighten those of us so that we too can make an educated decision on your reasons.
Is it a political issue? If so who are you protecting? Why do you feel that you need to protect them? You of all people as Admin should know that censorship as a defense will fail.
While I have enjoyed the time on TFP and have wondered about these issues before, I do have some reservations concerning the censorship of the site.
History has proven that censorship or protectionism which ever the case may be only delays the inevitable.

Only admin was replying. When that has happened in the past, the thread is closed and post are deleted, same as this one.
Pretty sure the last one that turned out the same way, was started by [the same guy], too. Like there is bad blood somewhere behind the scenes.

I know I have replied to a few threads, only to discover that evening, my post is no longer there.
You either adapt and continue, or get all bent out of shape and leave, or get banned.

First, I should remind you about rule #14:

Terms of Service said Discuss all Administrator/Moderator actions with the administrator or a moderator via Personal Message or email, not on the open forums.

But I am not going to delete this topic because of it (it is closed, however). Some members have a history here of thinking they are above the rules because they either have a better product/service than anyone else, or have a deeper understanding of the industry and feel they have the right to control the dissemination of information and make accusations and libelous statements against those they don't agree with.

I came up with a set of rules I felt every professional could follow easily. Everyone has to follow them, including staff. Including me. Sometimes a post is edited or even deleted because of an infraction or enforcement of the rules. Reading the rules could explain a lot. All members are required to agree to the rules when they register - and the rules are in the registration form as well as TFP Terms of Service linked at the bottom of every page of this site.

There was a recent topic that was great in that it explained the process and procedures of some training available through the University system. Unfortunately, the organizer of that training had issues with other training organizations and for-profit schools and even specific individuals. I don't see where it is necessary to take advantage of announcing and promoting your training opportunities by ridiculing or insulting other organizations.

If I were to be very strict about the no advertising rule, there would be no announcements of training. Although some claim to be free or very low cost, they are none the less a business that seeks the participation of others. But I feel training is an essential element in the promotion of professionalism and excellence in the flooring industry. It will always be allowed. But you can't use it to tear down others who compete for the same training dollars or bodies attending.

I have purposely left out any names. I have edited the posts in this topic that did name names. It will stand the test of time and does not point the finger at any particular person. It solidifies my stance on the rules of this site. The rules are not debatable in the open forum. If you feel you have a compelling reason for any of them to be changed, you can email or PM me or any other staff and campaign to change them. It has been done before.
