Sorry. Bad day. I'll shut up now. Maybe I'll watch my latest movie from Netflix.

Re: The Floor Pro site is slow
I'm not sure if the server problem has been fully resolved yet, but I did have them add a new software utility that helps speed page loads. I notice a difference, so I hope all of you will too.

Yeah and it's really pissin' me off too. The errors on the page thing you were seeing were from the Google ad on the left - the tall one that sometimes had car/truck ads and such. I changed it so it wouldn't show picture type advertisements (more specifically, Flash based ads - a technology that too often causes problems). Now it's only text based ads. But that wasn't the part that was slowing the site down.
I guess I will have to get stern with the server technicians and see if I can light a fire under their asses. I hate this waiting for each page to load. I am sorry all of you have to go through it too.

Re: The Floor Pro site is slow

After some discussion with tech support for our server, they are telling me that our traffic has increased significantly since we moved to this server. That is true, but when I went looking for a server, I looked for one with the resources that would see our growth more than double what it is now before I would have to consider any upgrades or another move.
The technician thinks that my best course of action would be to increase the amount of RAM. Of course, increasing RAM also increases the server cost to half again what I pay now. The admin of a popular webmaster forum, who also happens to be on staff with the company that produces the forum software we use here, has suggested another company. I checked the available plans and they have one that offers more disk space (we really don't need more disk space), a faster CPU, faster disk drive access and twice the RAM we have now. All for only $10.00 more than I am paying now per month.
The deal has not been made yet, but it looks promising. I'll keep you updated.
Jim

Re: The Floor Pro site is slow
I hadn't really thought about it until this thread came up. I'm on the second fastest Comcast plan and I'm seeing pages take five seconds or so on occasion. They usually load as fast as I click.

Re: The Floor Pro site is slow
I just finished processing the transaction with the new server company. TFP should be moved to the new server within a few days.
