I Wish....

I wish I could see larger print here. And change the background color like I can on other web boards.

It hurts my eyes.

Will that be an option in the future?

Re: I Wish....

Hi Rug Trucker,

I had no idea that the print here could not be resized using the text size control in Internet Explorer (neither IE6 or IE7). You can resize the text using the Firefox browser though and you can use the zoom feature in the Opera browser. For some reason, the text size cannot be resized in the Netscape browser either, although it is the same engine as the Firefox browser. In Firefox and Opera, you can find these controls in the View menu.

Which background hurts your eyes? There are several layers of colors here, each a green based color. The actual background color is the very dark green you see at the outer edges. You can't normally change the colors of a style on other forums, but many forums offer different styles for its members to choose from. At this time there are no plans to offer any other styles on TheFloorPro.com. I believe in branding and all the graphics and code used in the development of this site is based on one style only, just as you would see in any flooring store or other business paint and decorating scheme.

We aren't adverse to making some changes though. If it is something that could be incorporated into the style that is appealing to all, it could feasibly be done. Your suggestions are more than welcome.

In the mean time, I will check into why the text can't be resized. If you are familiar with the Firefox browser and don't mind using it, it may give you the text size relief you need for now.

Thanks for letting us know about this.

Re: I Wish....

Good news about text sizing: I just learned on the vBulletin site (the support site for our forum software) that you can change the size by holding the Ctrl key down while scrolling up or down with your scroll wheel - up to make it larger, down to make it smaller.

I hope that helps. I also learned why the size of the fonts are static and can't be changed with the text size feature of the browser. The way the font sizes are coded in the forum software prevents changing it in the normal manner. I can change the code to one that can be adjusted by the user, but it is a big job. I will add it to the to-do list though because it is an important feature that should be available to all users. But for now, please use the Ctrl+scroll wheel option.

Lodown knows how you feel, he has been waiting for something in the mail from me, almost as long as you have. Busy, busy, and his tag line about the bee stings has me freaked out....

Do you use "The Blues" or "The Blues (large fonts)" there? MoParts.org uses UBB.threads forum software, which comes with a color selector. The forum software we use, vBulletin, doesn't have that feature. A skin/style can be gotten for the forum and installed and some forums offer several skins, but I prefer to use only one recognizable style. There's a lot of work involved in the additional graphics, logos and titles and I just don't have the time for that for more than one style.

I worry about that signature of his too. It's strange that a guy who says he can, Mr. Lower Down Now wants him to get stung to death by just one bee. Talk about torture. I think I'd rather just say "I can't" and have a quick death by 10 thousand bees.

Re: I Wish....

I tried the sizing thingy and nothing happened. Then I went to some other sites and they were all large print. Came back here and nothing. I must be special.

You are holding the Ctrl key on your keyboard down as you scroll the wheel of your mouse up and down, right?

Yep. I even tried them both thinking maybe one was having a bad day. Hey, when the day comes that I need to have them bigger I'll figure it out, right?

SK, you now I am the patient type........... and I hope you are too.

Admin, it's still one of my favorites for some odd reason........... I hate bees!
I hate em in July, I hate em when they fly. When they buzz me on the ladder, it makes me even madder. I hate em while they enter as I'm drivin' in my car, but I know they hate me madder when I shake em in a jar.
Don't worry, I won't do this often.

Re: I Wish....

The control and scroll thing doesn't work for me either. I'm using netscape 7.1, I believe. However, I can drop down the view menu and zoom text size. I see pretty good though so I never felt the need.

Re: I Wish....

Sorry, I think the Ctrl+scroll only works with Internet Explorer. You should also think about getting Netscape 8.1 Netscape Browser Main .
