Re: crain steamer help?

I have the Crain steamer. For wwhat I've used it for it works great. I haven't tried it for seam peaking and really can't figure out actually how it would help, may other than it allowing the carpet to relax more at the seam area. seam peaking is caused from tension trying to go into a straight line causing the seam area to lift up.
I've used it to steam out tube marks, and once to help to blend the yarns on a seam repair. You could do the same thing with any steamer I would think. This one is just small and portable. Mine does put out a lot of moisture though and it takes distilled water.
Hope this helps. Anymore questions just ask.

Daris

Re: crain steamer help?

thanks for the reply daris, thats a real help kinda saves shelling out $400 on importing and customs etc,i get to rectify bad fitting jobs so tools like that can be useful if they do what they say, alternatively it may make my job easier if people did proper apprenticeships and save me the hassle of trying to sort there cock ups!will probably invest in a steamer from over here pole marks/cruch is getting really bad since wool carpets have gone over 50oz in weight

I've used mine on a few seams and it doesn't eliminate peaking but it helps quite a bit. It's worth keeping on the truck.
