They seem to have more stuff than any other site I have seen.

I compared toolsforfloors and shagtools on some of the stuff I have bought and shag is higher. But it's a good site sometimes I'm sure, we can't have too many sites to get stuff from. I too like coastal tools, good deals there sometimes. As far as shipping I usually will order up to the roundoff on shipping as to get its full benefit.

at the moment it works out to $10 a gallon over here, but we drive smaller, generally more economical vehicles, so its not too bad, you lads drive cars and jeeps with engines over 2000cc, which in Europe, just isnt seen

Re: online tool sales
You guys must not have any good supply stores in your area.
I get better deals from my local suppliers, alot better on most stuff.

Re: online tool sales
I can get some better deals at local supply stores, but unless I need something right away, I can order it online, have it shipped to my front door, and save 8-9% in sales tax. Even if the price is slightly higher, I have to figure in the cost of gas and my time involved getting to and from the stores which are all 20-30 miles away.

Re: online tool sales
8-9% sales tax? Wow, I thought we were high at 6.5-7%.
I can place an order and have it delivered for around $15.
1 tool or a whole truckload.
Guess I'm just lucky. For the few items I could get cheaper from online stores I'll just pay a bit more to make sure my suppliers stay in business.
Just looking at Schluter products on the link that Harry provided and they aren't even in the neighborhood of what my suppliers sell to me. Heck I could probably go into business with their pricing.

Re: online tool sales
Yep, actually the city where I buy most of my things is 9.5% tax. The best price I can get on a roll of Ditra is $1.25 psf. That's over $38 in tax, not to mention the gas to drive 60 miles round trip and the hour and a half it'll take me to go get it.
If I order a roll online Monday, I'll have it by Thursday, at my door, for $15 shipping, and it only takes a quick phone call or a minute online. Even though it's seven cents psf more, I'm spending the exact same amount of money for the product because there's no tax. Figure in the fuel and time savings, and it's even better.
I understand what you're saying about keeping the suppliers in business and all, but time and fuel costs are the two biggest factors I have to consider these days. If I'm going by the supplier or close to it, no problem. But a 60 mile round trip? Nah, I'll spend the time and fuel on other things.

Re: online tool sales
Most of the time I can buy tack strip, seam tape and multi-purpose here in town. Sometimes I can buy metal. Staples and blades, I order on-line or drive 120 miles round-trip to get. If I need anything special, I am just screwed. One of the retailers will order stuff for me. but the supplier only delivers once a week and charges a $25.00 drop fee. I can usually get an on-line shipment in 3 days, and shipping is $8.00.

Re: online tool sales
Guys, I would be interested in speaking to a person that prefers to purchase products on-line. I am reviewing some of your statements and it appears that there is a pretty nice business that could be attained from a distributor that had many locations and a well stocked warehouse. We are currently not selling on-line. My main question is this, when you do not pay the tax to the distributor, aren't you "supposed" to pay the usage tax in your own state (US) on your taxes? I would think if an audit came your way you would that would be something you would be paying plus penalty. If you would like to call me to discuss these issues, please do, or, post on here.
