I am fully aware that HD offers products like staples, blades, strip, and metal at a cheaper price; that is just a sign of the times. There is a whole discussion regarding their offering, but, that will be for another day. Yes, I know it works for you now and they can help you make more money per year, but, when it comes to an area where you might want to expand your horizons and have a chance at making more money through education, I do not think HD can get you there.

By not shopping at your local flooring distributor and getting to know the the people there, you are missing an opportunity to stay in the loop within your industry. Sure, it may cost you throughout a year but the benefits should far outweigh expense, if you are shopping at a quality distributor.

Same here, our supplier beats HD and the few times they don't at their regular price, when brought to their attention they always at least match it.

For a while our HD here had tackstrip with aluminum pins in it... had to laugh.

Lowes/HD beat the local suppliers on some things but they charge nearly double for glue and pad, what's up with that? For the most part I get everything from the local supply shop. It is nice to have it there when you need it though. I have no qualms about stopping by Lowes if it is on the way to a job.

Honestly the the quality of service in both of our local suppliers has dropped off a lot lately. One I wont shop at at all, and the other has gone down hill since Allied bought it. I've had to wait over 4 months on two different items I ordered through them. From now on anything I need special order I will pick up online.
