Eureka
I think I hit the gold mine today. I have kinda been looking for a new table saw. A friend of mine who does rummage sales called this morning and said he had found one that I might like. So I met him at the sale and here is a garage full of power tools. Anyway there is a Craftsmen contractors 10in table saw that looks like it just came out of the box. She wanted $100 for it. Next there was a Ridged 10" compound miter saw on a adjustable flolding stand, plus a wheel set up.. She also wanted $100 for it. I offered 150 for both and she took it. Oh did I say anything about accessories with them. A dado set and numerous carbide blades to go with it. Different dodads for the fence and guides.
Now there is a router table and stand with a craftsmen professional router. Now there is a wooden case with 50 carbide tipped bits, never used. As an added bonus the is a dovetailing jig that also goes with it, never opened the box.
Total bill $250. I immediately went to Sears to see how bad I got stung.
Table saw--------- $219.99
Miter saw work stand--249.96
fence guide---------------19.99
pusher stick and guide--16.00
Dovetailling jig-----------216.00
Router bits---------------100.00+
Router with table and stand--200.00
Dado blades------------------- 99.99
I couldn't find exact pricing on the router stuff so I'm guestimating.
All in all I don't thimk I did to bad. I'm thinking of going back tomorrow to see what whe had left. When I left there was a 16inch scroll saw a 1 1/2 hp dust collection system, belt & disk sander, generator, big drill press which she wanted 500 for and more hand tools. I'll see how it goes in the morning as I have a bunch of hazardous waste material to get rid of.

Re: Eureka
Some people have all the luck.
Working on a house one day a tuck pulls up with a bunch of porter cable tools in the back. He gets out and starts talking to the mason on the job and unloads and leaves. At lunch the mason said he bought the truck load for $800. The guy with the truck was told by his boss to take the tools out to some new house being built and get rid of it. They had a demo show somewhere on all the tools and didn't want to haul them to the next one. Pressure washer, planer, table saw, generator, ect. A steal.
The best deal I ever got was 5 rolls of pad for $20off a commercial shipping truck that had to get it off the truck.

"A steal" ........, sure sounds like that to me. Sounds more like stolen goods and a theft ring.
take the tools out to some new house being built and get rid of it.

That just sounds fake as a 3 dollar bill.

Re: Eureka
My wife went to one of those cooking seminars one night and hung around talking to friends after. The teacher was using all cruisinart equipment and they were getting rid of all of it after that one show. We're talking ovens, toasters ,mixers, utensils, ect.

Makes me wonder even more............... why didn't the guy at the demo show not sell or give away tools right there at the show instead of paying someone to wander around town and peddle them? I'm probably wrong, but it just sounded fishy to me living over here in Mayberry.
