Re: stair-wizard

I'm with Chrisbonnie on the metric thing.I use a 16 ft metric tape to cut base in with, and it just seems easier to write down mm then 1/8's or 1'4's or whatever.

But, to be fair, I hated it when Carter tried to ram it down our throats....

Re: stair-wizard

[quote=chrisbonnie;44591]can the stair wizard be used for cutting vinyl flooring, i.e, marmoleum and armstrong?

im in Ireland, so hence to possible non-sensical question, ive never even seen one of these, i stumbled across it on the internet, and was wondering whether its just for carpenters are not

I have borrowed one many times for doing rubber stairtreads and it works great. I would try it on lino, just haven't had the chance to. I would cut it a mm longer and cut it in. I will own one someday once the price is right on ebay but they don't come up often. I did pick up a cheap home-made hardwood one that is made out of 1/4" hardwood pieces with little wing nuts to pivot the ends to match the stringers. It does work but not nearly as good as the Wheaton.

its definetly more accurate, and easier to remember as well, its like the old money in Ireland and England, back in the 50`s, it had 3 measurements, so you could have 3 pound, 1 shilling, and a penny, now its metric, 100 pennies ina pound, just like the measurement system ,its defiently easier

but i suppose, its what you know, and if it aint broke, dont fix it

but join us lads, go on, i dare you!!!!!!!!
