Adjustable Carpet Strecher R19
Ive been seeing these small streachers on EBAY, used for bath rooms, halls widths and closets.
# Adjustable length allows you to work in tight areas like hallways and bathrooms
# Lever action stretches carpet without having to use your knee
# Length adjusts from 23'' to 59''
# Four attachable bars with bracing foot
# PVC handle grip
Does anyone here have one or used one?
How well do they work?
Looking for knee saver tools.

Some time back, I think Al Gladen or Darren Ramey bought one and said they had to rebuild it. It was cheaply made and broke almost immediately.

It is from Harbor Freight. None of their stuff has much quality. They are $50.00.

Re: Adjustable Carpet Strecher R19
i have one, i paid 40 bucks for mine..if i remember right..great for tight areas..it is cheaply made though..i bought mine becauce i do alot of mobile homes..and the hallways are so narrow my stretcher handle would hit the wall before i pushed it all the way down to get a stretch.on the width.so i had to kick it...so i bought it to help save the knees, also i do alot of campers and RV"S so it comes in handy for those tight areas.

Re: Adjustable Carpet Strecher R19
So you had to fix it to keep it working.
Do you use it?
Is it a must have tool for you?
I would really like something for small closets...
I'm installing a lot of heavy carpet these days and being over 6 foot tall and not as limber as I used to be I am not getting those closets as tight as I would like them to be.
A small stretcher seems like the ticket but not if it is so cheep that it won't hold together for daily use.

I used to use mine quite a bit until my dad stole it, I need to get another one. If you use it much at all you will need to replace the bolts it comes with. It's not a quality tool, but it does come in handy in tight spots. Around toilets, small closets and the like. It's also great on the width of stairs when you come up a little short on the nose due to them being out of square, and provided you have something other than drywall to strech off of.

Re: Adjustable Carpet Strecher R19
You don't need to worry about any walls with the kneeless. Too expensive tho.

I am guessing the main fault is the bolts and or the bearing area that the bolt rides in........... that's where the real hardware store comes in. Bronze bushings, grade 5 or 8 bolts, nylon sleeves and washers ...argh argh argh!
Making this tool better says you need to pretend that you are Chinese and want to improve the original designer's tool.................... sorry, I meant German.

Re: Adjustable Carpet Strecher R19
No bearings or bushings, just a hole through thin metal and a bolt for a pivot point. Piece of junk.
