Glass cutter

I purchased this tool several years ago from National. I only used it a couple of times and don't even know if I was using it properly. I have a couple of good size commercial jobs coming up and thought I might try it again.
Anyway , a few questions for anyone that uses one.

There is 2 slots in the bottom for blades ( one in front & one in rear ) .
which one do you use for what application?
There is a slot in the front for what I believe are the row finders one w/ a blunt end and one with a sharper tip.

On the side there is a metal plate that adjust up and down with more slots for blades. I believe this is for trace cutting. Does the bottom of that plate ride against seam edge ?

I think it came with some metal spacers I will have to look for. What are these for?

I'm sure it came with directions but I can't seam to find them.

Re: Glass cutter

It is designed for double cutting. The front blade cuts the top layer and the back for the bottom. It really was made for cutting powerbond with the attached pvc backing.
I have never used one but am told it works great.

Re: Glass cutter

I do recall first seeing one at a C&A seminar in my shop. A few were given to my mechanics along with adjustable clear cookie cutters. Used to do a fair amount of cookie cutter reapirs on powerbond as well as large tackless jobs. Miss the old pin tape and latex patches...

I miss the porkipine also. Still do latex seams on occasion though. Porky used to really rake my thumb until I figured out what caused it.

Mine didn't come with instructions either.

As Daris said, the tool is made for double cutting. Adjust your blade depth on the front cutter so that it will cut a little deeper than the thickness of the material you are cutting and the second blade deep enough to go through both pieces of material that are overlapped.
The front slot is for running the cutter down a row on the top piece of material.
The spacers are for aligning where you want the blades to cut. Aligning the blades with the row runner works.

Play with the alignment to see what gives you the best result.
