There a hardware store in town that has tool rentals too. They've decided to retire and are selling off the inventory. Tomorrow is the last day and most everything is gone but what's left is priced real right. I found this lonely little fella sittin by himself. Looks like it's never been used. Lists for 1899.00 . I picked it up for 470.00 . I just couldn't leave him there all alone. Somehow , he knew my name cause I could hear him whispering: Tony. Take me away from here. Please. What was I to do? Oh well, the wife was needing a new edger anyway.
Your wife is gonna love it when the next subfloor that needs some TLC comes along. Hook that bad boy up with some 20 grit, and make all the bad stuff go away, pronto.
That's the plan, SK. I've wanted one a long time but just never could quite swing it. Those rascals are pricey. I've just rented when I really needed one. I couldn't pass that up though.
There is nothing more delicious than finding something like that. I still check pawn shops in spite of having more tools than I know what to do with.(Last week I found a pretty new Alto Super 7 I could have had for 300 bucks) I don't know much about Silver-Line other than the fact that I have only seen the stuff in rental joints, but 470 for a like new edger is a steal. Silver-Line also makes(made?) a pos 110 drum sander that I always thought would be awesome for ploor prep. The thing didn't even have a feather handle. The whole machine simply catilevered back and forth to engage the drum. It is like using an upright vacuum.
In case you didn't already know; the bag with a leather bottom is well worth the money. Also, always set the edger on it's side after running it for very long. Believe it or not, you can warp the shaft by leaving it upright after sustained use. This is because the wheels tilt the edger to the front a wee bit. It sits on the front of the pad.
That's cool Tony. Shore is pretty. Last year I found a nice Duofast hammer stapler at a yard sale for 10 cents. Down the road I also found a Roberts electric tacker in the box like new for $20. Some days yer just lucky I guess.
Not to be a buzz kill, but this guy I worked for today, had a Clark DU-8, an old 15" buffer, and an equally old Clark edger. Bought them at a yard sale for 50 bucks. I can only hope, he was lying...If I can remember, I'll take my camera with me. That edger still haf the original dust bag on it, for cripes sake.
He is planning on refinishing his OLD fir flooring in the house he's rehabbing. This guy buys these older homes in this area, completely redoes them inside and out, and then rents them out, completely furnished. People whose homes are being remodeled, forestry people, DR's and nurses on contract assignment, are somw of his current clients. This will be his 8th property used in this capacity. Interesting, I thought.
I read in the newspaper today, that a local hardware store had been robbed yesterday. They are offering a reward for any info. I think the reward was around a c-note. What do you think Lamar.
