kool glide/ stair nosing

I hate putting on vinyl stair treads/nosings. It is a pain in the butt. I wonder if the Kool Glide with the utility tape would work for this. If it did I would go out and buy one just for that use. Let alone all the the other uses you guys have been talking about.

Re: kool glide/ stair nosing

I'm thinking maybe not for the same reasons it won't do vinyl cove base.

Vinyl and rubber are not the same thing.Which is why the question of plastisizer migration was raised in the first place.

Len hasn't chimed in yet on this.

Re: kool glide/ stair nosing

This is one of the applications some of the guys are saying they are doing. Rember you can use the utility upside down, put the pressure side to the stair tread. I would suggest srpaying it with alcohol and wiping it off first because of the oily feel. The only poducts I have had problems with are PVC (plastisiers leaching) It will hold great (for a few hours) then it will open up on its own. Hopefully we can come up with a solution soon because this is a big problem in the industry.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think most treads/nossings/reducers are made of rubber.
And you are saying it would work fine on rubber??

Yes I have actually done a retention pond liner, and it was rubber. I put a bumper insert back on my neighbors Caddy that had popped lose in a minor fender bender. $.20 worth of tape the dealer wanted $500. It is still there and that was 3 years ago. It was plastic but looked tainless Steel

Most edgings are vinyl.
I would say nosings are 50% vinyl and 50% rubber
Treads are probably (at least they were in Chicago) 80% rubber & 20% vinyl.
