Wasn't it SK that was hot melting wood flooring blocks to the cement to start the first rows of a gluedown off of.

Yes, I do that. It was a radiant heat subfloor of the gypcrete variety. Most of what do is on wood subfloors, and probably more radiant then standard concrete. So I have no experience with cold slabs and hot melt.
I did recently heat weld a floor, in a bathroom that was about 40 degrees. Tough, so I can see how it could be a problem.
