I've been using one now about 4 years. Wouldn't be without it. It is so much faster and easier. You don't worry about objects on the floor in your way. Just remember to add in your door drops.
Don't skimp on the cost. The one I have is from Leica Distos It was about $350 at the time.. They have them that can download to computer now. I bought mine through Laser Square.

I have one from them,,, got it a few months ago,,, now, when I measure a house to see how many sq. ft, it is easy,,, when I need to see how far a run of laminate is, it is easy,
like it, love it,

I use a laser square to mark the working line for hardwood .
