Shaw Certification Program
Shaw Commercial's Installation Certification Program
This program will deliver quality education and certification for commercial carpet installers. Shaw's experts, with over 300 years combined experience, will deliver the hands on interactive sessions focused on installation methods, adhesives, seam sealers, installation equipment, Shaw backings, floor prep, seaming methods and many other topics. Additionally, installers will have the opportunity to visit Shaw's state of the art manufacturing facilities.
What does it cost? Shaw will provide certified instructors, training materials, lunch during the sessions, and fabulous giveaway items, such as knee-kickers and mini-stretchers. Attendees are responsible for travel, transportation, and hotel accommodations. Training materials will be free, but they ask that you bring basic tools such as a carpet knife, cushion back cutter, carpet tractor, knee kicker, etc.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
I'm going to call Monday to see about attending the Houston date in March.
Something tells me, you have to be a Shaw dealer to sign your installers up fo it and I will not be allowed to attended.
I may have to drop the CFI card on them, to see if they let me in!

Talk to Sharon, she will sign you up with no problem. You do not have to be a Shaw dealer. If necessary tell her Chris Mha sent ya.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
Does it seem odd there is no class near KC? You would think with CFI based there, there would be a class at least close.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
Yo dont have to be anything at all to attend the class, just call or email and sign up. We had an un employed salesman in our class. He was from New Yawk.
Nice guy tho. I went to the one in Dalton, they supplied lunch, and had Taylor buy us steak dinners at one night.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
Top three score's get the prize's. Came away with a new pattern stretcher for top prize. Came back and gave one of my old ones to an installer who can use it.

Re: Shaw Certification Program / added 2nd class
We have filled the first class with 35 people so they are staying and doing a 2nd class and it already has 25 people with only 5 spots left and I would not be surprised if it is not filled by Thruesday. I told them I could most likly fill a 3rd one but they said later in the year.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
Great job on promoting something like this!!
We could all take a lesson from Roland, promote training!!
Of course he has the CFI chapter and the local floorcovering association to draw from.
Again maybe we should move from the keyboard and get a little more active in promoting training.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
Tom and I just got back from the course in Chatsworth (just outside of Dalton). It was a very good class with several installers, mill folks, project managers etc. We were the only inspector/correctors there, but info such as this offered for free cannot be ignored. I would highly suggest to all installers and inspectors, even if you have installation experience, don't pass on this one.

Re: Shaw Certification Program
Hey Mike, long time no hear from. I agree with you. Regardless of your experience you can always learn something. These guys really know their stuff. They will be back in Detroit I think in September and I will attend again and do all I can to help them promote it here.
