CFI CONVENTION 2009
The excitement is in the air! It's time to revitalize your flooring attitude and network with industry professionals!

The CFI 16th Convention is in Kansas City, Missouri August 20-22, 2009 at the Kansas City Expo Center located at the airport and adjacent to the Holiday Inn Expo. With transportation furnished from the airport, you’ll be greeted by old friends and new acquaintances the moment you arrive.

The Leadership Conference sponsored by the World Floor Covering Association is the opening event at 4:15 on Thursday afternoon. Dinner is served.

"To earn more, learn more," is evident with the abundance of educational seminars.

Rod Von Busch, Vice-President of Operations for C.D.I, a regional floor covering firm with locations in Louisville and Central city, KY and Indiana, servicing Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee. Von Busch, considered an expert in his field will assist you in "Working Smart in the Commercial Marketplace."

Jeff Johnson, MAPEI FCIS Product Manager and the Mapei Team of Trainers bring the latest installation technology as it applies to the substrate. "Installation is ONLY as Good as the Substrate" provides assistance to alleviate problems before they occur.

Ben Boatwright, Director of Operations and Technical Training for Romanoff Flooring Services based in Atlanta and covering 22 locations presents, "Best Business Practices, Customer Service and Installation Management Technology." For over 15 years, Boatwright has been involved in flooring installation management.

Alan Allis, owner of Alan's Floors, a commercial flooring installation workroom based in Council Bluffs, IA presents, "Concrete Polishing Fundamentals, Grinding Floors for Prep." Alan will share his expertise in this field with ideas of interest for flooring contractors and review diamond types and applications, dust containment and basic chemicals used.

Tim Provence and Rick Herr, Managers of Armstrong Field Installation Services introduce the latest techniques of "Heat Weld Urethane and Heat-Sensitive Flooring." The need for installers who possess skills unique to this field is increasing. New products are continually introduced by the manufacturers and this is an opportunity to learn from the experts.

"The Edge in Woven and Patterned Carpet Installation," demonstrated by Jon Namba and Robert Varden presents the latest installation "tricks of the trade" for achieving customer satisfaction with the most difficult products.

Dick Schmidt, Technical Services of Johnsonite shares the latest techniques concerning the installation of rubber flooring and related trims. Schmidt will demonstrate new product installation requirements for "Rubber Flooring – The Latest Trends."

Joe Cea, Installation Technical Services for Congoleum guides the attendees in a hands-on workshop of tile installation. Known for his ability to involve everyone in creating a design, Joe provides ideas for a successful installation in "Tile Installation, Let’s Do it Right the First Time."

Gary Goodrich, owner GW Carpet Tools and manufacturer of the EvnSeam Iron possesses many patents. "The Patent Process," presented by Goodrich will take you through step-by-step the requirements of securing a patent for that invention you are seeking to release.

Rita Bockrath of ITW Industrial Fastening presents, "Tackstrip Installation of the Future" to involve methods. Attendees will view demonstrations and also participate.

AND MORE……………..

The manufacturer-sponsored product presentations are not to be missed. The information concerning technology and new product lines place the attendees on the cutting edge. Installers return to their areas and share with others ideas to work more proficiently. Each manufacturer in small group settings presents several question and answer sessions.

The CFI 16th Commemorative Convention Jacket is provided through the generosity of the industry associates to CFI installers who attend.

In 2008, 32 installers attended for the first time. It is expected that this number will be exceeded in 2009. Installers entering the field and those who are considered experts in their trade all find resources and contacts that provide exceptional assistance throughout the year.

You know I'll be there with wings on. Speaking of wings Dave, I know this place in KC that has the best garlic hot wings.

Re: CFI's 16th Convention

Jon I would love to send you the tickets. They would be on Gopher Airlines and that is underground all the way. Problem is the gophers are still digging the air lanes. Seems they hit a rocky area about a mile from the start and are still jack hammering. But would love to see you and Shirley again.
Jon we would love to have you there. Never have had a Kiwi there. There have been people from G.B, China, and Japan there though. Oh I almost forgot Alan Dewitt from South Africa.

Roland as youi know the coffees always on me. Really, I still have not won a battle with a cup it's all over me. Daris, I swore off garlic wings, as it turns out it's not good to kerioki and dance around other people after you have eaten those things. They are evil!
