Konecto

I am considering Metroflor Konecto Prestige as a replacement for my ceramic tile and carpet. The concept of a wood look-alike floor that is waterproof and can be installed in kitchen and bathroom is appealing to me. We have three small children, and something that is sturdy and requires minimal maintenance is important.

I am concerned about a few things, however:
- Is a "floating floor" like this product going to be noisy?
- Is the overall look realistic and natural as far as the grain, planks, etc. are concerned? Will it be immediately obvious that the floor is fake?
- Will this contribute to or detract from the value of my home?

Thanks for any advice that you can offer.

Kristen

Re: Konecto

If noise is a concern, use a quality underlayment beneath the floor this will help more than you know, as far as looking "real" these newer products are looking more and more like wood . New floors always add to the equity of a home

Overall I would be confident you will be happy in your choice metro floor is a nice product. Others will be along soon to add their input, hope this helped

Re: Konecto

The Konecto is brand new with no track record yet... I saw a display recently and it does look pretty nice from the surface. Time will tell I guess.

Re: Konecto

If noise is a big concern, you have nothing to worry about, it is not noisey at all. as far as looks go it looks more natural than many vinyls and would wear a lot better IMHO.

Re: Konecto

ive seen konecto down in my friends new home. They put it (prestiege) in their entryway, hall and hall bath. Looks fantastic. They like it so much they want to put it in part of their basement now. No its not noisy at all like laminate and they didnt use an underlayment.

Re: Konecto

I am a Metroflor dealer, and we have been selling out of Konecto. I even installed prestige in my kitchen. The Prestige is the only one with aluminum oxide, and is definitely worth the few cents more as the country and the sierra plank score up easily, although those scores are easily buffed out and a commercial floor dressing can be used to make them wear better.

The flooring does not require underlayment. It is as quiet as a floor can be (much quieter than wood or laminate) and is completely water proof. It looks very real. My only visual concern is that there are too few patterns in the box and it is easy (when you search for it) to find repeats. Other than that, it looks more natural than most laminates on the market.

It's a wonderful product and will change your mind about PVC flooring.

Thats the same deal with laminates. I open up several cartons and find out how many patterns there are so I can keep them shuffled. Normally there will be 4 or 5 distinct patterns to keep up with. They are not all the same ratio either.

Re: Konecto

I'll go along with the noise part but come on, it isn't that great looking and yes it looks "fake" at least to anyone with any experience.
It won't detract from the value of your home but it won't contribute either unless of course you find an inept real estate agent/appraiser.

The waterproof aspect is way over"sold" as well.

All that said if you find one you like go ahead and put it in although for the money there are better looking wood vinyls available in my opinion.

By the way I sell Konetco too.

Re: Konecto

I am also a floor covering store owner/dealer.
I must agree that it does look fake, just like laminate flooring looks fake.
With that said, it is waterproof, that is a big deal. We are always replacing laminate floors and hardwood floors that became water damaged. A floor that is quiet and easy to install + it's waterproof is truely a terrific product.
Would I put it in my own home, yes, if it was a basement or play area. But I am not the only one that needs a new floor, everyone has different needs and some folks love laminate flooring (the Z brick of flooring) and others think even the nicest of lamiminate floors look fake. It will do well for some, not everyone.

Re: Konecto

You must love the loose lay vinyls on the market then. Water proof and super easy to install.

Re: Konecto

Make sure your floor is level, any imprefecttion will show through. In February I installed in my condo and developed an air bubble about 4 feet long and one foot wide and tried putting weight on it for a few days, no help. Maybe if I heat the area with a heat gun and then put weight on it, if that may help. Anybody have a better solution? I removed carpeting and installed 3/8 plywood.

Re: Konecto

Do you have any left over? you could just take up back to the bubble and reinstall from there. It is floating so you should have no problem taking it up.I f i rememmber right. They even say if your carefull you can take it apart and reuse it. Have not tryed to take any apart myself yet.

I have an extra case and replacement is duable. The bubble is about 5 feet from the edge. I had already lifted some of planks and they resealed ok. I tried double side tape, did not work, bubble is too large. I was even thinking about glueing the planks down, of corse I wouldn't have a floating floor. Thanks again for your reply.

If this is a floating floor, you have not left the required expansion space, and it is buckling. Take the wall trim off and cut back the locked in area.
