Konecto + Thresholds
I laid 500' of prestige plank Konecto this weekend (!). I am replacing the thresholds from my french doors that lead outside as well as the door into the attached garage.
Question 1:
I am hoping to get something that is close to the color of the chestnut Konecto to do the thresholds in and am having a hard time finding anything but aluminum. I have seen the wood-looking ones for the interior thresholds that are actually metal, but have not seen the ones that lead to the exterior with the 90 degree stair nose for the slab and then the threshold in a faux-wood finish. Links???
Question 2:
My house is 30 years old and when I took the thresholds off, 2 of the bolts that held the old one down broke off into the slab. It appears they are in anchors that are in the slab. Will the new thresholds come with new hardware that I can put around the old holes? It seemes at Lowes that the holes were pre-drilled.
Any insight would be great! Thanks for reading my long post.

Re: Konecto + Thresholds
A local lumber or hardware store should be able to order wooden exterior thresholds for you. If they don't come with concrete anchors, just ask the store staff for the products you'll need to do it. It will require a special drill bit for drilling into concrete, along with the inserts and screws.
Perhaps one of our members will have other suggestions - maybe one of them might even have the product you're looking for.
Thanks for joining.

Re: Konecto + Thresholds
Depending on the situation I would make my own out of a hardwood and stain and poly it. You might be able to just glue it in place with a polyurethane construction adhesive as long as nobody walks on it for a day. It is also waterproof and can be used when the floor is wet.

Re: Konecto + Thresholds
I have to bump my thread because I am still having issues with this. The aluminum I am replacing had a large front end piece to go over the stair nose and underlapped the threshhold. If I use a hardwood threshold, I can't have a stairnose underlapping it or it would sit funny. I am thinking I will get a stairnose for the single step foundation into the house from the garage and then butt it up against a piece f hardwood that I have to scribe to fit under the door jam on the sides. This job seems like it should be easier than this to me, though. Any suggestions?
