Konecto: to buy, or not to buy...
Topic sponsored by:
 Hello everybody.
I am considering buying Konecto for my kitchen, but I am hearing some concerns about this product. I would appreciate any advice or comments from anybody. I would like to see the product "down" but can't find this product in use anywhere and the local distributors have not sold or installed Konecto.
Any help is much appreciated.

Re: Konecto: to buy, or not to buy...
Welcome, Being an installer I like the product as I have done several jobs with it. Being a vinyl product it is more durable than wood or laminate in wet areas. There has been several discussions on this site on Konecto where some people have had problems with it but I personally have never had a complaint. It is fairly easy to install and if the manufacturers directions are followed it should give you years of service.

I think a little more information would be needed to really give you an answer.
Where will the product be used?
How long do you plan on living in the house?
What do you have on the floor now? And what do you like or not like about your current floor?
Which Konecto floor are you looking to purchase?

It is very temperature sensitive, from the reports around the country. Shrinkage is the biggest complaint.

I think from time to time we might irritate someone. However, you will find on this board irritation does not last. Continue to post because we need to see the flooring from the dealer side. Our goal is to tear down all the walls between ALL of the flooring industry. Also, typed statements sometimes appear harsher than they are ment.

Re: Konecto: to buy, or not to buy...
Thus is the nature of the industry.
I have not problem or complaints.
There truths about and many misunderstandings.
Yes there was a problem but it was iith the squares not the planks and it was the laws of physics working against the squares. The interlock of the planks is not affected by this.
The good points are; the floor performs excellent as we have seen it , it is very user friendly.
If you get a scuff it will buff out unlike many vinyl planks.
The epoxy will take your fingerprints off if you grab it to long, not really but it very sticky. If you have heavy furniture on it will dent as any floor will but once the item is moved it will regain its surface completely heat will enhance this substantially.
The dont's: Do not install with proper acclimation! Do not install in a cold room. If you suspect moisture use a breathable dense 1/4 padding underlayment like Quite Walk. Do not except it to take repeated soakings and maintain its stabilty. Do not allow dust in the enviroment while working with the product.
Do not leave the boxes open for any length of time. This will allow dust to settle on the unprotected epoxy flap, this in turn will impair adhesion.
The dos: Do roll the joints as you install them I advise s 3 lb steel vinyl roller.Do keep your hands clean.
Doo allow the floor to sit in the room you are going to install it for at least 48 hours(acclimation)
Do crank the heat up the warmer it is the better the floor goes in , (just like vinyl).

Hugh you may have a typo in the don'ts part and it may make a failure. You say "don't install with proper acclimation". Shouldn't that be without proper acclimation?
I'm not a Konnecto person so I don't know for sure. But most products want acclimation. Right?

Are the Konecto tiles already out? My distributor told me they were still in the works.
Thanks

We should have the same distributor. OVF ?
They were released and then withdrawn I am not even sure the midwest saw them.
We should do some networking. I get request for installs in Indy all the time. I never have time.

Re: Konecto: to buy, or not to buy...
Can you expand on the temperature issue?
I want to install Allure/Konecto in the summer kitchen of our Pennsylvania stone farmhouse.
So in the floors are not insulated.

Re: Konecto: to buy, or not to buy...
With ALL flooring the ideal is to maintain it at living conditons all the time.
If you subject it to temp extremes you may have a problem but then again you may not. Just don't expect the manufacturer or installer to cover the problem if one does develop.
I don't think you will have a problem to be honest.
Acclimate the product to the conditions prior to install.
