konecto direction change for hallway

Has anyone changed direction 180 degrees to go down a hallway? I have a rectangular living room (LR) with a hallway that runs perpendicular to the length of the LR. I want the LR to go the long way which would make the hallway planks run perpendicular if I were to continue laying from the LR into the hallway. If I start laying on the LR wall opposite the wall that opens to the hallway I will have a sticky side up jutting into the hallway on which to stick the short end of the planks perpendicular to the LR planks to lay the planks parallel to the hallway. Would this work?

Yes and no.

If I understood you correctly I think you meant you want to change direction 90 degrees not 180?
If that's what you meant then you can do it, but the planks going down the hallway will be not staggered and will all match in length.

This is a good vid to watch if you haven't.

Which Konecto are you looking at?

yes you can. but you need to cut the backing off by scoring with a utility knife then pull it apart if there doesn't seem to be enough adhesive you can get some from your supplier. All the ones I have done there was enough adhesive on the material to stick it down and stagger the joints except for the starting joint at the doorway.

mark, yes you are correct, 90 degrees is right. I didn't think about the hallway plank joints lining up. Sodak, i am a bit confused by your response. Are you saying to cut a plank shorter in order to stagger the hall joints? So it is possible to remove an inch of the cut plank's backing in order to place it on the sticky side of the perpendicular LR plank?

I am afraid changing direction might put me in over my head and turn out bad.
Besides being able to lay the flooring along the length of the hallway, my main purpose for changing direction is to keep my hallway planks straight. I know my LR is not square and I am not confident I can adjust the angle perfectly to assure it is square once I reach the hall. However, starting from the hallway wall (in order to ensure the hallway would start off square) would require me to reverse lay the hallway. Any experience with the splines? That may be the way to go.

Thanks guys.
Brooke

You can buy the splines to reverse the direction of your planks 180 degrees. Or you can make one out of the backing of the plank. They say you can take them apart and put them back together. But you may need to add more adhesive , I have used a heat gun to warm them up and they will come apart and stick back together.
