quarter-turning vinyl

Anyone know why square vinyl patters don't match up. If I ever have to quarter-turn a seam, they never match up. Always about 1/8" off. The only time I ever do it is in a closet. I just don't know why they can't make them square.
Anyone know why this is.

Re: quarter-turning vinyl

If you could 1/4 turn it, you wouldn't have to buy as much.

Re: quarter-turning vinyl

The "sqaure pattern gets elongated when it is rolled on the core. If you have to 1/4 turn, match it in the middle of the run. Sometimes you can compress by rolling face in, to help, but runout is runout.

Re: quarter-turning vinyl

There is sometimes a noticeable texture difference which will show as duller or shinier also. skhardwoods is correct about the elongation.
