Tarkett Prestige

I did 2 bedrooms today with this product. I did a 12 X 19 room about 2 months ago in the same house on the same substrate (concrete). We used the same 4 gallon bucket of Tarkett Qwikbond as before.

The end curl on one end in one of the rooms would not stay down no matter how much I rolled it and there are loose spots (not bubbles per se) in several areas in the one room (12 X 17).

The material was acclimated for about 18 hours. It also was allowed to relax for about 20-40 minutes before adhering.

All three rooms were rolled with a 3/8 nap roller, allowed to thoroughly dry, and rolled with a 275# roller (75# with my 200# additional weight). They all needed skim floating. I used Mapei skim float with additional additive. All rooms were vacuumed.

The 2 rooms I did today are adjacent to each other (back to back closets).

Any thoughts as to why one room would have sporadic problems and the other 2 rooms do not.

I do not expect any complaints as this is a kids (teenage boy's) room and is extremely cluttered.

Finally, this room is a different piece than the other 2 rooms. I did one room 2 months ago and the balance of the roll today. They ordered another piece for the 3rd bedroom. Same pattern and quality.

Re: Tarkett Prestige

I'm a little confused. What room curled, the room you did 2 months ago, or the one you did today? Are those from the same roll?

Jim

The room I did earlier is fine. Today's job is one room from a balance of the first job, the second room is a new piece. It is not curling, the end curl is not being held down by the adhesive.

Re: Tarkett Prestige

Straw grasping....Could something have gotten on the backing to make it break adhesion? What if you back coated it? Is the glue sticking to the concrete? Sounds like something is causing the adhesive to release.

Sorry, I forgot that detail, the adhesive is sticking to the concrete/patch well (it feels very aggressive to the touch). It seems that the material is not sticking to the adhesive. But not uniformly, only in spots and at one end of the end curl.

I will be going back in about 3 weeks to do 3 other rooms, 2 in regular vinyl and one in Adura over MUL. So maybe, if necessary, I can address this then. So far, no one has noticed. And I do not think they will.

Re: Tarkett Prestige

Where was this vinyl stored, since you layed the other part of it? Could it have got oil or something like that on it?

The new cut is the problem. Not the balance.

Hmmm. Guess the warehouse guy got a little crazy with the silicone spray, on the cutting machine.

That's the only conclusion I could come up with, some type of contaminate on the backing. There was nothing obvious though.

Anyway, I do not think it will be an issue in the room it is in, but if it does come up I will be back there for 3 or 4 days an about 3 weeks.
