Jim It looks really great! The best part of it is you can say " I did it all myself!" and proudly show off your handy work. What a sense of accomplishment.
grump, looks good... you put it in the bathroom to?
No, the bathroom has some slate looking vinyl (Mannington Ultra, I think) that looks pretty good. The next room I do will be the bedroom, but this room isn't done yet. The floor is finished though.

I went to bed last night thinking about that sense of accomplishment. This morning I got up and proceeded to pick it apart like I was my worst customer. I found a mark on the floor from the refrigerator (prob'ly comes off with some vigorous rubbing) and several boards that should not have been placed where they were.
Konecto Prestige has 7 or so different patterns in the color line. But I see that some of that is just the pattern being reversed or shifted. Most of the boards I should have used elsewhere are like that, but once the furniture is in, it may not be noticeable at all. But there are 5 boards up near the kitchen counters, 2 of one pattern and 3 of another, that won't be covered and I really wish I had paid closer attention to that.
I removed a board over by the entry last night right after I laid it in. It was very difficult to remove and it took some of the glue from the adjacent board with it. I'd hate to think how difficult it would be to replace a board in the middle of a room. I doubt I would be trying that any time soon. I think I will just have to leave the boards as-is up near the cabinets as a reminder that you may not forget the technical part of installing after 4 years, but the quality sure suffers.
Maybe most people wouldn't notice what I do. I am very critical, especially of my own work. It prob'ly wouldn't be a good idea to let it stress me out though. Maybe I'll pout for another hour or so and then start installing the trim.

We were certified to do laminates years ago. Our first project was our own house. The product we picked had a very rustic pattern to it, with 8 board pattern repeats per box. We ran the whole main floor on a diagonal, no transitions. It was a click product, but we glued the sucker anyway. We continually argued over board pattern placement, so we would get a few rows in and then walk away rather than killing each other. By the time that we had proceeded into the dining room at the back of the house, I no longer gave a crap about patten placement, we had been at it for almost 3 months and I wanted my house back. I managed to get about 4 boards together in the middle of the room that were identical. We were the only ones that noticed it. House has been long since sold. We successfully avoided doing laminate after that.
Our Duraceramic customer this week is renovating a newly purchased home prior to moving in. Her father was planning to do laminate in the living/dining rooms, but has asked us if we would do it for him the week after Christmas. We looked at each other, both knowing the potential for an onsite bruhaha between us, but not having much work booked for that week, we may be inclined to do it. It will only work if Dave racks the panels, and I mark the cuts for him, that way we don't fight about what goes where. Will let ya know.
Jim, stop stewing. Your floor looks great. Only a flooring guy may notice the repeats in front of your kitchen counter. If it really bugs you that much, buy yourself a little runner.
So, you got it done? You made great progress, since I last talked to you at about 9:30 am Thursday. So, don't go raining on your own parade, by nitpickin' and undermining what you've done.
I'll figure on heading up in August, 2010. That should be about the time you finish the Master Bedroom Suite remodel, right?
Yeah, you guys are right. I am going to stop fretting over it. This morning a former fellow tenant stopped to say hello and she didn't even notice (I pointed it out to her). She was really liking my cabinets too.
Then the new tenent came by with her deposit (I'm taking care of business while the landlord's in AZ) and was really surprised at the change since she saw the place last week - and she wanted to know if the landlord was going to remodel her apartment too. I was doing the base trim at the time and she liked the way it looked next to the hardwood. When I told her it was just plastic flooring, she was in awe.
I'm just taking a break right now. I got all the base trim done and caulked. When I finish my coffee, I'm gonna touch up the paint. It's looking good. Looks like I will have to wait 'til tomorrow to get my furniture out of storage (no lights there). I can't wait to fall asleep on my sofa watchin TV.
Jim, your pride and enjoyment of your remodel is making all of feel real good. You took on a job that many would have said due to your health it was way over your head. Well it wasn't you moved at Jim's pace and did it. Thank you, and enjoy stretching out on the couch for that well earned nap.
Thanks Tandy. No rest for the wicked yet though. I thought I had all my touch-up painting done, but when I looked at the pictures I just took, the flash shows a bunch of places I missed. Dammit!

Yeah. After looking at the photos, (with my glasses on) you are right. NO WAY I could live with the horror of THAT paint job. Please touch up, and re post.
Oh, I notice that power cord/gas pipe is not perfectly parallel with the floor. Please correct.
Man, you guys are harsh. You shoulda seen how my helpers handled it. Oh wait, you think my anal tendencies coulda been part of the reason my helpers didn't stick around too long?
Well, the only reason I wanted to re-touch those spots was because those areas will get dirty quicker - then they'll really stick out.
Gas line crooked? Tough shit. Live with it - oh, ummm, I guess that's gonna be me livin' with it. That's okay, I blame my landlord - he's the one who messed that up to begin with. I hope it will soon be hiding behind a dishwasher.
So, no more pictures. You'll have to take my word that I touched up everything - to my satisfaction anyway. I'm hoping the cop next door is gonna help me get my sofa moved in tomorrow. The floor looks wonderful. I am very happy.
