Armstrong vs. IVC US
Hello, my experience with home repairs is summed up in replacing a valve on a toilet 6 years ago. I've decided to go with vinyl sheet tile for my basement after much research. Now, which product. I was able to find some stats for the Armstrong Starstep wood look, natural. Low gloss, clean sweep plus, 70mils thick. Found a price of .99. Also found same price for an IVC US product but no specs anywhere. Impack Rustic plank. Any suggestions for the 2 products? Am using a tile installer but he had no preference for either.
This product will go in the basement where there is a bedroom and home office.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Find a vinyl installer not a tile installer.
I'd lean toward the Armstrong but at that price point it really doesn't matter.
If the concrete is in bad shape you may find it almost as cheap to use real ceramic vs putting in sheet vinyl.

Thanks. He is a vinyl installer (just goes to show my ignorance). Is real ceramic cold? It's a bedroom.

Ceramic tile would feel colder than vinyl even though if you measured the surface temp of each product they would be the same.
Has to do with heat conduction properties.

Welcome to TFP, tootoot. If you're after any specification info, the manufacturer's website will usually supply this information, often in PDF format.

I couldn't find anything on IVC. I did find specs on Armstrong.
Another question - how clean and level does the cement need to be for the sheet vinyl? Minor cracks okay?

I sell IVC and Armstrong. The IVC is an import hence the 13'2" width. The Starstep at that price is a good buy but the IVC product is installer friendly and may be more forgiving over the concrete depending on how it gets installed. The big factor here is what kind of shape is the slab in. If it's minor stress cracks or imperfection it could be cost effective to use Webcrete 95 and simply float defective areas. If the defects are major I might consider using tile.
