Re: Should I buy earthscapes from CarpetOne?
Earthscapes is a sheet goods product not a laminate. It has its goods & bads, I have had both experiences installing it everyway recomended by mfg and some not, that worked well. I have it in two rooms in my house, still love it hate it. It really depends on the application, each is unique in its own way, and should be evaluated before you pick a product. You can pick a color, style, look, ect. but please have professional suggest the type. I've had to kick a job ore two because the wrong type of floor was picked and not recommend to install in that situation.
They have changed their prefrence for installations and adhesives, but overall its a good product and they do warranty if it's a legitimate claim. Kevin is the guy to ask tech ??? to.

Just a note from one of the old posts about moving appliances, I use an air sled to move appliances, no tears, rips, dings, dents, scratches or gauges. Plus I can work alone on most vinyl jobs. Well worth the $300-$400 investment.
Hope this helps someone.

Re: Should I buy earthscapes from CarpetOne?
We have the IVC Earthscapes in a 12 x 14 kitchen area. It is not glued and has rolled up slightly in places that dos not have a lot of traffic. The area in front of the sink and fridge have not had any problems as of yet...
I think it is more of a "bad install" issue. Carpet One advised the installer when he picked it up that it did not need to be glued. When we purchased it the salesman also said that it did not require glue, but if we did, perimeter glue it.
Other than these problems, it appears to be a good product. It made the floor softer, and it looks like ceramic tile.
?Any advice out there as far as the rolling around edges?

Take the trim off. If installed properly there should be a gap between the edge of the vinyl and the wall. And any shoe molding(1/4 round) needs to be nailed to the wall and not the floor.

I think IVC suggests loose lay, full spread with a PSA, or something like a partial glue (adhereing with a PSA at the perimeter only at 2 right angles in a one room install.

Re: Should I buy earthscapes from CarpetOne?
I was told by IVCKevin at a seminar that perimeter are no longer allowed. Why not full spread, it takes very little extra time, is easy to do the recommended way, and provides a much better installation. I have personally done thousands of yards of this stuff, no loose lays, one perimeter (at customers request), the rest full spreads. only one failure, due to excessive moisture through the slab several months later, which IVC stood behind and replaced at their cost ( go figure). Slab was tested at the time of installation, was fine, then when spring thaw came, bubbles out the wazoo.

Re: Should I buy earthscapes from CarpetOne?
I replaced a slate front hall floor with EarthScapes 4-5 years ago. I bought it from and had it installed by CarpetOne in Indianapolis. I got Sorento Slate pattern, because I have three good-sized dogs (50-90 pounds) who have the run of the house. I did have a few bubbles at the start, but CarpetOne responded VERY quickly, came out and resolved the issue. It still looks new, has stood up to the dogs' racing over it and doesn't show their hair or mud they track in (a big reason for getting it). I'm so pleased that I'm having 3 adjoining rooms done in it as part of a flood-created kitchen remodeling. I balked at doing vinyl in the living room, dining room and kitchen, but it's held up to my pooches, looks great (everyone thinks it's stone) and is low-maintenance. So far, I've only swept it....
Good luck!

My husband and I are installers for a Carpet One store. Our store is having a lot of trouble with these floors failing. Personally we've had issues and the rest of the installers have had their share as well.
I'm hoping to get some ideas from you.

I editted out your email address, as it could be interpreted as advertising. Why not register and then PM Kevin.

Re: Should I buy earthscapes from CarpetOne?
I am in the same boat trying to figure out if I should buy this product, also from a Carpet One.
I really like the look of it, we have a small bathroom and laundry room in our basement.(185 sq ft) Didn't want to spend the money for tile, especially to add a heated system for it, thus we came across the Earthscapes.
My concern is the price, or should I say the lack of itemization on the bid. I had asked for the bid to include the cost of removing pedestal sink, toilet, washer/dryer. (all would go back in except sink) I was originally quoted 3.65 for product and average 1.65 for install but my qoute comes out to 7.75. Am I crazy for thinking that this is too much? Help!
