Vinyl Plank Flooring - new construction

What's the latest on flooring for new construction? I like the look of hardwood, but not the cost. Plan carpet for bedrooms and tile for bathrooms, but what should I do with the rest of the open floor plan?

I started a new thread with your post, since you posted to an old thread. We like to start new ones if the old one is over 30 days old, its in the TOS.
Thanks, RG

You might like Mannington Adura Distinctive Luxury Vinyl Planks. We just did the laundry room, kitchen, dining room, living room, foyer, and hallway in Ashford Walnut. It looks nice and is a lot easier to keep clean than carpet. Sometimes people who come to the house think it is wood. It does not look like real wood to me, but maybe that is because I watched it being installed. We have only had it about a month but it seems to be holding up well. Good luck with your decision.
