Help TheFloorPro Community Grow
Topic sponsored by:
We need your help. If TheFloorPro.com is to become a success and an asset to the Floorcovering Industry, we need more members and we need dedicated professionals like yourself to help us find them. There are several ways to encourage new members to join us: - Use the site name and/or address in your signature on other forums (if allowed).
- Send an invitation via email to your professional associates and friends.
- Put a link to us on your own websites.
- Tell your co-workers, suppliers and representatives about us.
Even better yet: Give everyone in the floorcovering business you know our latest flyer. Put it under their wiper, slip it between the door jamb or ask them to tape it to a window where other floorcovering professionals will see it. See the flyer that is attached to this message. It is in PDF format and can be viewed and printed from your own computer on any kind of printer paper. If you need the Adobe Reader to open the flyer you can download it at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Your support for TheFloorPro.com is GREATLY appreciated.

Hmmm, a few days have gone by and only 22 views of this plea for help. And no replies. Well, I have not sat idly by (not that anyone else is, but no one's talking). I want you all to know I am doing my part to help bring more members to this forum -- and in this particular way, possibly bringing more of our industry brothers and sisters to the Internet.
I went to Reno after breakfast with J.Jeff yesterday and stopped by several places I do business with. The first stop was at Pacific Flooring Supply in Sparks, NV. I do a lot of shopping for supplies and material here, so I asked Dave Bash, the manager, if I could post a flyer there. There's a big bulletin board just as you come in the door:
Click any image to see a larger version.
Then I went down the way to Tom Duffy Co. and talked to Dave Lamm, the branch manager, about putting up a flyer. He gave me 2 spots that are heavily trafficked.
It was running late, so my last stop was at another business that works with a lot of pros -- installers, manufacturer's reps and interior decorators and sales people. Functional Designs of Reno is a higher end store that does a lot of business with decorators and the hotel and casino trade. The boss wasn't around, so the best I could do was to talk the fork lift driver into letting me tack a flyer on the back of the forklift.
So, I did my part. And I will continue to ask shops, distributors and stores to let me post a flyer. I printed out a few more and will carry them with me. I might even stick some under the windshield wipers of the competition. Maybe what we need is a competion. I think this software has a place to put who referred you to the site for registration. Yep, I just looked at my own profile and I got 5 referrals. So if we have a contest to see who can bring in the most new members in a certain amount of time, the winner would get a BIG prize. I can write on them flyers to tell 'em Jim McClain sentcha, so ever'one that visits the site because of the flyer I put up would put my name down as the referal. Then I would win a trip to Hawaii or a coffee cup or somethin'.
Do I get points for good ideas???

How about Bruns Jim. Are they still around there. I did business with them in Sacramento in the late 80's. I hear they moved to the Reno area. A great outfit.

Jack Bruns, the grandfather who started the business was quite a guy. My truck was stolen, loaded with tools near Sac in 88. He only knew me for a couple months but when he heard, he let me go through the shop and pick out anything I needed for tools and supplies. I got the whole works as you would need. He said "don't worry. Pay me when you can". Not many folks around like that anymore.
I printed off some flyers and will put'em up tomorrow. Good spot on the forklift Jim. How about one on the bathroom door. For some reason I've had little luck around here trying to get installers to try out any boards. I guess they already know it all. One more time.

I live in a town of 57 Jim..... that ain't fair!
How about number of new guys brought in, divided by the local counties population? .. a percentage thing. I want to pick up the new van I win in Hawaii, and drive it around for a few weeks, than have it flown home to the states at someone elses expense............ I mean ..... is that too much to ask?
Some weasel took the cork out of my lunch.

Re: Help TheFloorPro Community Grow
I will pass the word in Pittsburgh. I download the flyer and I will pass it around. We have a CFI meeting Nov. 27 and I will tell everyone. It looks like this site will go hand and hand with what we our trying do in Pgh. Hope we can make it work for both of us. To being PRIDE back to the flooring industry.
