Jim, first, I hope this is the right forum,
I noticed the last time I post a picture that there is a 'tags' box. Is this the same as tags for search engines? If so it would be a good advertising tool for those posting pix.

No, sorry, this isn't about flooring business, so I moved it from the Business End of the Flooring Business forum to the Website and Forum Support forum.

Yes, that is something the search engines look at. A tag is the same as a keyword. It should only be used if it is also included in the post itself. If you use the phrase, "the last ceramic tile job I did, I used a furan resin grout," there are several tags you can use: ceramic tile, grout, furan resin grout, tile grout, tile. When others reply, they can also add a tag based on the content of their reply. Tags are separated by commas - with a space after the comma or not (I notice some of our members use a space before a comma in their writing, which will nullify the tag because it's not correct use of a comma).

Tags can also be searched. You will see a "tag cloud" on the advanced search page with different sized tags. The larger tags are the most used or the most searched term. Clicking a tag will show you a results page of topics that use that tag.

Good topic, Barry, thanks.

Jim

Re: tags

Can we go back and 'tag' our previous posts?

Re: tags

Yes, if you do Advanced Edit, but I would prefer you don't. Just tag your new posts and topics. This is a new feature since the upgrade and there are prob'ly 4,000 topics and 48,000 posts that don't have tags. That would be a lot of editing.
