We have a system already set up for that, Daris, but not enough people use it. So, I'm glad you brought it up. Now I can explain how you can use that part of the forums and also how to post a link.
The name of the forum (and a link to it) is
Buy & Sell Flooring Tools and Equipment. You don't have to have a tool for sale or a tool you are looking for to use that forum. If you know of a tool for sale someplace that someone might be interested in, then go ahead and start a new topic in that forum to let people know what you found and where it is. The appropriate title for a tool for sale would be
For Sale: Name and Model of Tool (and of course, if it's a tool you want, then a better title would be
Wanted: Name of tool or product)
Posting a link is very simple. Please click all the thumbnail images to see them full-size.
- Just visit the website and the specific page the tool is on.
- You will see the address of the page in the address area of your browser - it's called the URL - here are what the URLs of various browsers look like:
Internet Explorer
FireFox
Opera
- Click the address area once with your pointer to highlight the address - it'll look like this:
- To Copy the address, press and hold the Ctrl key down and tap the C key at the same time.
- In the message editor, put your cursor where you want the address to appear and hold the Ctrl key down and tap the V key at the same time - it will paste the address into the editor:
- When you finish telling about the tool, proof read to check your spelling, etc. and then either check your message with the Preview button...
- ...or just click the Submit button. The forum software will automatically turn the URL into a clickable link of the title of the page you want people to visit:
I have tried to make posting links into any message you post here very simple. Just Copy & Paste. You don't have to click any special buttons or hold your face weird, just copy the address and paste it into the message. The forum software will do the rest (speaking of which, the software ain't cheap, so
donations are greatly appreciated).
You can use the Test forum to practice your links. If you have any difficulty or want to ask a question, let me know. I am always happy to help. You can post your comments or questions in this topic, or, if you prefer,
you can PM me or
email me. Heck, I don't even mind a phone call once in a while: (530) 283-5467. And if you happen to post a link that doesn't work for some reason, me and staff always check them out and we will do our best to fix a broken link. 'Course, if you post a link to a bad place, like a place that is bankrupt, rips people off or breaks the rules, the link will be disabled.
Now, there should be no excuse for not posting a link to a site that helps our members and visitors find what they are looking for, whether it be tools, or a source for other information and resources.
Happy posting,
Jim
