Floor Asset Management is a Minneapolis, Mn. based floor inspection and consulting company dedicated to providing factual evaluations for all types flooring at any project stage from conception to forensic failure analysis.
We remain unbiased by accepting work on a commission basis only; we do not work for brokerage services, bid for projects with manufacturers or accept projects where there are expectations that the site data will be gathered to meet a preconceived evaluation. Further, with the exception of highly technical on site color corrections, we do not provide any products or installation services, precluding us from having any vested interest in our conclusions.
We provide unsurpassed technical expertise by continually attending advanced programs specifically aimed at forensic evaluation of all factors related to flooring. Many of these courses are taught by experts at the PhD level who are outside of the flooring industry. This assures we are able to separate biased industry information from legitimate causal issues. We are committed to providing factual reporting after utilizing appropriate research methods for data collection and analysis.
Our background is equaled by few, if any, in the forensic community. The founder and owner of FAM, Peter Kodner, is a third generation flooring professional who has been active in the industry full time since 1972. During his 25 year tenure as an executive and owner of one of the country’s largest flooring contractors, he was involved in numerous committees and advisory boards covering the entire spectrum of floorings, from product development to installation, maintenance and recycling. In the 12 years since incorporating Floor Asset Management, Peter has continued to be active with numerous flooring associations as well as associations indirectly related to flooring.
Our experience is extensive in residential and commercial carpet; woven carpet; carpet tile, solid and engineered hardwood flooring, sheet vinyl, vinyl tiles, linoleum, high pressure laminate flooring, cork tiles and roll goods, rubber flooring and sports flooring. We can provide consultation on Green building issues, indoor air quality concerns and static dissipative flooring. We regularly perform concrete testing, in accordance with ASTM protocols, to determine subfloor suitability for installation of floor covering products.
