In anticipation of the 2017 NAHB International Builders’ Show — the largest annual light construction show in the world — Huber Engineered Woods is expanding distribution of AdvanTech™ subfloor adhesive, providing access to the spray-foam subfloor adhesive to builders nationwide.

Goodwill Industries of Georgia has a mission to put people to work. Michael Pryor, Director and Quasandria Turner, Special Projects Coordinator, provided a first-hand overview of the impact they have on the lives of people. The facility located in Smyrna, GA is the largest in the nation and a shining example of what can be done when people care.
Michael Pryor said, “While the state’s unemployment rate of 6.3% is a full ten points below where it was in April, The Georgia Department of Labor still reports a need for skilled workers in the state. Through a unique partnership, the International Certified Floor Covering Installers Association (CFI), Chattahoochee Technical College, Goodwill of North Georgia and Spectra, retail commercial sales division of Shaw are working to fill that gap and help area jobseekers find employment.” Read More

CFI installation training is in huge demand, both for open events and dealer-specific workshops and certification.
The benefits to installation training can be strongly measured by customer satisfaction. Enhancing the skills of the installers leads to a more productive day in the field because of the new and improved techniques that continually are added for the installation of ceramic, carpet, resilient, laminate and wood flooring.
Flyers can be downloaded at www.CFIinstallers.com. Check often as the dates are constantly changing.
The WORLD FLOOR COVERING ASSOCIATION offers their members educational scholarships that apply to all CFI events. Visit www.WFCA.org for detailed information. If not a member, join today.
CFI also conducts installation training for individuals who are just entering the trade. These programs are very intense and designed for those who have recently chosen flooring installation as a new career. CFI programs offered by dealers in various areas are 1-2 week, hands-on courses that prepare the students to be well-trained assistants.
“Flooring installers are the mirror of the retail store and spend many hours in the customer’s home or business,” said Robert Varden, Executive Director. “Increased training delivers results that provide more sales. Both dealers and flooring installers benefit from updated information and skills training. We prepare the applicants with The CFI Study Guide that contains the answers to the written tests. It is the goal of CFI to furnish as much information as possible to make the experience rewarding and enjoyable.”
Tony Buckhardt, CFI President, “The CFI Master-II Certification will be held this summer. To apply for this event, the installer must have completed the RI-II and the CI-II Certifications. The importance of adding to the installer’s resume cannot be stressed enough due to the high demand of this designation for specific work, such as the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC. Installers must allot time from their busy schedules to enhance their skills to move forward in this industry.”
